MSNBC reports on some studies that were presented at a conference this week at a University of Notre Dame conference, that show that early human parents were more empathetic and attentive, and provided a nurturing environment with multiple caregivers, in contrast to the way some (most?) children are raised today.

The AAA Foundation wanted to see how well parents did when teaching kids with learner permits. They put cameras on the dash of cars, and followed 50 families. They were disappointed to find that supervised driving averaged only 2 hours a week, and only 20% of that at night, where kids need more experience.

A new study was released today by the Pew Research Center that looks at how we are researching products online. It goes on to show that "among internet users, 78% say that they at least occasionally conduct product research and 32% report that they have posted online product comments." The Detroit Free Press did a story called Surviving hard economy in Michigan, more dads stay at home. In it, they report that the number of stay-at-home dads jumped 38% in three years, according to 2009 census estimates. The 2009 data suggest that there are 158,000 stay-at-home dads in the U.S. However, since the latest figures do not include fathers who work part-time or those looking for work, the number is likely higher.
