I think it is the corporate ego looking down on someone that choose to have children and enjoy them. How about “so-called daddy figure” as a rebuttal? See, they might be good at their job but they put so little time in to their families that they are merely figurines of what the genuine article is. I think they are just trying to use you but really don’t understand what you are about. Hence the derogatory moniker.

Either way, I find it a little annoying.

Yet, I find that I’m guilty of it myself. When I looked for a post I did on mommy bloggers, I discovered (to my horror) that I used the term: http://www.scottmonty.com/2009/05/oh-mama.html . But the point of my post was that mommy bloggers need to be treated as individuals, not as this mass marketing target that’s homogeneous.
