I have to say that I got a Sous Vide Supreme for Christmas two years ago and as a Never At Home Mom of three, 20, 14 and 6... I love love love my sous vide as does our PTO and a host of other organizations that I have used it for... There are so many things I love to do in my sous vide, but, chicken has to be my all time favorite. I buy boneless skinless breast when they are on sale, season in a few different ways, put them in vaccum bags and toss in the freezer, do the same thing with potatoes, I slice them add a little butter, some seasoning and vaccum them and toss in the freezer, brocolli and cheese, mac and cheese, and then if I have a long day of volunteering on the schedule I toss them all in the sous vide in the morning at what ever setting my chicken needs, everyone can have their favorite version of chicken, their own individual side and clean up... maybe if I want to reuse a bag. I was always a crock pot lover but I use my sous vide about 90 percent more then I use my crock pot. Oh and eggs, I make the most amazing creamy egg salad! I made the brisket recipe that I got via email from Sous vide and it was melt in your mouth to die for wonderful. Nope don't work for the company, just love how tender and juicy and delicious everything I have made has been!

Wish I could do a demo or go to a site where I could taste the food. I watch cooking shows all the time and they use these frequently. I find the sous vide machine fascinating. Thanks Stacy for going into more detail on this method and keeping us up to date!

Can anyone tell me if buying the vacuum bags is a big cost and do you need any additional equipment to seal them?

I'm very interested in this. Life is starting to get busy in the afternoon with 2 of the kiddos in school and doing after school sports. I am having a hard time getting dinner on the table with the 30 minutes - an hour in between activities. I have been trying to find a good solution and this may be it.

Some sous vides come with a vacuum sealer machine and bags. Some don't, so you'll have to figure that into your final cost. However, having a vacuum sealer is a wonderful investment, especially if you want to get into once a month cooking, buying in bulk, or doing more freezer meals.
