Mom Central received a 2014 Kia Sorento to test drive in order to facilitate this review. The views expressed here are entirely our own.

Traveling with a large family often becomes quite the challenge, especially in Washington, D.C.! From navigating the city to deciding which museums to visit to picking an agreed upon lunch spot, vacations quickly become stressful with a larger group of people. When my family officially booked their plane tickets for Memorial Day weekend, I immediately wondered how we would comfortably travel in and around the city as a party of seven. My compact car sitting in the garage certainly wasn’t going to cut it.

Enter the Kia Sorento. Lucky enough to receive a 2014 Kia Sorento to drive for the long weekend, I could finally concentrate on mapping out the touring instead of the transportation. Boy was my family shocked when I pulled up to the airport in a red SUV. Fitting everyone comfortably, with ample space for luggage, we pulled away from the airport, opened the panoramic sunroof, and began what turned into a wonderful vacation.

The technology built into the 2014 Kia Sorento became the highlight of the trip as we made our way from destination to destination using the 8-inch navigation system while playing Sirius satellite radio through the Infinity Surround Sound Audio System. As I pulled up to parallel park on a side street near the National Mall, my stomach sank at the thought of maneuvering the large SUV. When putting the car in reverse, the rear camera display came on and in no time the car was parked and we were out climbing the steps to the Lincoln Monument. Success!

2014 Kia Sorento
All in all, we had a smooth vacation thanks to the driving experience and ability to easily travel as a family. I love that the 2014 Kia Sorento provides comfortable seating for seven without the sensation of driving a large truck. For larger families, or those with kids often having friends riding along from school to extracurricular activities and play dates to birthdays, this car offers a wonderful solution. Technology, space, safety, comfort and sleek exterior – what more could you ask for?
