Even though this holiday can seem larger than life, the little moments from this holiday can be remembered long after the candles burn out in the jack-o-lanterns.
When you think back to Halloween when you were growing up, what do you remember? Can you recall each costume you wore? Do certain traditions stand out from others? Did you have a favorite candy you would try to get or trade with friends? As you answer these questions, try to think of what made Halloween so special for you years ago. Sure, maybe getting candy felt fantastic, but what else sticks in your mind about this fun event?
What do you think will stand out in the minds of your kids as they remember Halloweens-gone-by?
Consider how to help create these happy memories for your family. The holidays can get pretty hectic and the lists we need to accomplish get longer and longer as we move into the fall and winter seasons.
Try to keep your focus on the little things: the small moment when your child’s hand grips yours tightly as you cross the street to visit the scariest house on the block, or the looks on your kids’ faces when they see their pile of candy emptied out onto the countertop after completing a trick-or-treating route. These could prove the moments you and your kids remember long after the holiday fades into the night and the kids fall asleep with makeup remnants still on their satisfied little mugs.
Happy Halloween! We hope your evening gets filled with fun and special moments to remember for years to come.
