A New England Winter Escape Awaits You in Vermont at the Stowe Mountain Lodge

Time for a winter getaway? While some New Englanders dream of escaping the colder temps, still many others pine for a week- or weekend-long retreat spent enjoying all our wonderful country, with its glorious seasons, has to offer.

I was recently offered the opportunity to spend some time at the Stowe Mountain Lodge – a true winter wonderland.

Driving up to scenic Vermont from Massachusetts felt so easy and peaceful, relaxing me before I even got to the resort. And from the first moment I stepped onto the property, I was already in love with the Stowe Mountain Lodge, a Destination Hotels property.

Nestled at the base of the mountain, the location of the lodge provides close access to the slopes for skiing and snowboarding as well as some incredible trails for hiking and snowshoeing. The property and all the surrounding land feels so quintessential “Vermont”, complete with babbling brook – perfect for a winter escape. Upon arrival at the lodge, the staff warmly greeted me. Throughout my stay, they continually struck the perfect balance of professionalism and making me feel completely at-home.

The spa, connected to the property, offers a variety of spa services (including a heated pool!). I enjoyed an Apres Ski massage that focused solely on the legs and feet which would feel heavenly for those having hit the slopes all day. Next time, I plan on spending the entire day in the spa just looking at the view of the mountain, and sipping on herbal tea.

After you’ve hiked or hit the slopes, or even relaxed at the spa, be sure to indulge in a delicious meal and drinks in the property’s amazing, 5-star restaurant, Solstice.

The studio room I stayed in features a living area, fireplace, kitchenette and marble, modern bathroom. Many rooms also offer a balcony view, overlooking different vantage points of the property. And although everything you could possibly want remains at your disposal when you stay at the Stowe Mountain Lodge – however, if you need to venture out, the center of town is just a few minutes down the road.

The Stowe Mountain Lodge makes staying for a week or long weekend absolutely heavenly – no matter the company you travel with – with something for everyone to enjoy, at any speed – whether looking for a “winter explorer” getaway with your gal pals or the family, “winter cozy” hideaway with your significant other. From skiing and snowboarding, snowshoeing and snowmobiling, to horseback riding and sleigh rides, the Stowe Mountain Lodge doesn’t disappoint with so many outdoor things to do!
