It’s the most wonderful time of the year! Back to school means back to routines for many of us. I, for one, am very much looking forward to getting back into schedules, set supper and bed times, healthy eating.
As much as I love summer and the fun, spontaneity, and great weather it brings, because I work full-time, any extra free time I may have seems to be spent driving kids places, picking them up, or doing their chores because they’re not home!
Frankly, I also don’t really like that my kids get up when they want, go to bed when they want, eat when they want, and eat WHAT they want. I spend time making a delicious supper, to hear, “Oh we ate at McDonald’s while we were out”.
I know, I know – I could set boundaries, rules, etc. over the summer holidays, but they seemed to creep up on me, and bad habits were established before I realized it.
I’m truly looking forward to sitting down with my calendar, slotting in fall extracurriculars, attending basketball games, planning weeknight meals, and getting back into a predictable, boring family life!
How about you?
