Disclosure: Influence Central received complimentary media tickets to attend opening night of The Boston Ballet’s The Nutcracker. All opinions are my own.

Pour yourself a cup of rich, creamy hot chocolate and toss on your favourite ugly December sweater because the holiday season is upon us! Along with decadent drinks and festive clothing, holiday traditions remain one of the best parts of this time of year. From trimming the tree with our families to singing our favourite carols by a warm, crackling fire, we all take part in traditions that create warm memories of the holidays.

The annual Boston Ballet The Nutcracker performance endures as a classic, jovial holiday event! Many begin to take part in this tradition as children and continue to see this classic even into their adult years. Mikko Nissinen’s and Robert Perdziola’s production of The Nutcracker has been entertaining audiences since its world premier in 2012. Featuring 56 dancers, 10 Boston Ballet II dancers and 250 Boston Ballet School students, this year’s performance promises to be a spectacular show of incredible talent and expertise, every single time.

Despite my lack of familiarity with The Nutcracker, I had the opportunity to attend the performance with my best friend this year and I was blown away! From the minute we entered the Boston Opera House, exquisite holiday décor and the distinctive atmosphere of cheerful holiday spirit greeted us. Elegantly clad men and women floated by us holding bubbly glasses of champagne. The scene mimicked that of a movie!

By the time my best friend, Monica, and I were seated our anticipation was at an all time high. The music, dancing, lights and stage décor proved to be nothing short of incredible. We left the show feeling inspired and completely ready for any and every upcoming holiday event. We also promised each other that we would see another show as soon as possible!

Experience a breathtaking performance, and establish an amazing holiday tradition, by seeing The Nutcracker this year! It’s a must for anyone who enjoys beautiful art and values the cheery aura that festive holiday activities provide!
