Trying to maintain an active lifestyle while working full-time can present a challenge to also stick to a healthy and consistent diet. Oftentimes, heading straight from work to the gym or to an event leads to skipped meals or a quick binge of pizza or fast food on the way home.
Recently, I’ve begun taking along a healthy snack, like a Luna Bar, with me to satisfy my late afternoon or early evening hunger and to tide me over until I get home and can eat a healthy meal.
Luna Bars now offer some great new flavors in two of their varieties: Chocolate Dipped Coconut and Chocolate Chunk in their regular bars, and Mint Chocolate Chip and Chocolate in their Luna Protein bar. The Luna Bars make for a great, filling snack with fiber to keep you full and also contains a good amount of protein, calcium, and iron. The combination of oats, grains, soybeans, and nuts acts like a traditional chewy granola bars but with a chocolate glaze, the bars also feed my sweet tooth—much needed late in the day!
The Luna Protein bars have the texture of a candy bar with a creamy filling inside a chocolate layer. They are also a bit smaller but contain 12 grams of protein—a great boost right before an intense workout or enough to let you power through the end of a late day. Having one right before the gym the other day packed enough punch to get me through my midday workout.
Overall, Luna Bars provide a delicious but healthy snack for on-the-go nutrition. With tons of variety in flavors, you can choose from a chocolate centric bar or a berry or fruit taste. Enjoy!
