Thanks to having two older sisters, I became an early fan of clothes and fashion. I tagged along on all their shopping excursions and loved leafing through their closets and trying on their clothes when they were not watching! Now that I have a daughter, I can’t help but let my love of clothes influence her wardrobe. Like most Moms, I find myself spending more money and time shopping for her than myself!  

Now that my daughter is three with a strong-willed mind, I often battle with her over what to wear. I love her independence, but at the same time I wish she would let me help her pick out her clothes more often. I constantly buy her cute and stylish outfits, only to find them crumpled up at the bottom of her dresser as she tosses them aside to wear her favorite Dora the Explorer shirt. That gets me every time!

Ralph Lauren’s “Create Your Own” Collection

As part of my work at Mom Central Consulting, I help run social media campaigns for brands looking to connect and engage with influential Moms. We are currently working with Ralph Lauren on a Mombassador campaign to help generate strong word-of-mouth buzz through powerful first-person recommendations from fashion-forward Mom influencers. These influential Moms are seeded with Ralph Lauren product each month and asked to spread word-of-mouth information about their experiences through their far-reaching social networks.

As our Mombassadors currently test out products from the Ralph Lauren “Create Your Own” Collection, I was fortunate enough to take part in the review process as well. The CYO Collection allows you to customize color and design features for some of Ralph Lauren’s most popular style from the Children’s, Men, Women and Baby lines- a perfect idea for a Mom like me with a child insistent on picking out her own clothes. They get to pick out their favorite colors and design features, and I can feel good about the quality and style!

For my daughter, I chose to create the classic polo shirt. As we get ready for a trip to Florida, I felt this was the perfect accessory for our trip. The actual ordering process was a breeze, I simply followed the step-by-step instructions on their website and customized the shirt color, thread color and customization feature (monogram or pony). We chose a classic white polo shirt with a red (her favorite color!) pony. I was happy to receive our shirt in less than a week and my daughter absolutely loved the special shirt she created herself.
