I heart my iPhone. My husband says I spend more time with it than I do him. And he’s right. But, so does he, and my teenage daughter also spends too much time with her iPhone. Needless to say, we need – short of an intervention – easy access to phone chargers to keep the obsession alive.
Since we are constantly fighting over who needs to use the phone charger, I needed a better solution than my well-loved and frayed charging cord. I was delighted to try-out Energizer’s new inductive charging pad. This charging pad is as easy to use as setting your phone down. It works with a special phone case which look like the one my husband already has.
You snap the sleeve onto your phone, then you just place it on the charging mat. No more fiddling with wires plugged into my power strip under my bed, at night, in the dark while husband is sleeping.
The mat is compatible with iPhones 3 and 4 and also the Blackberry. With an additional USB port, you can actually charge three devices at one time. Another cool feature is the ability to just toss your phone on the charging mat without having to line the charging sleeve up with no secret spot to find. A few months ago, I tried out one of those bulky, magnetic charging pads, and I was sorely disappointed. I couldn’t line it up just right and found myself using precious minutes struggling to charge my phone on a business trip. I should have brought my plug-in charger!
The part I like best about this product is I can charge all three of our phones at once. So, as you already know about my family, this means less fighting over charger time. Since I have the mat on my bedside table, I can keep better track of my daughter’s phone. She’s only 13, so she’s not entitled to too much quality time with her phone. And as I recently found out, Angry Birds our newest waste of time. Oh iPhone, what did we ever do without you?
The Energizer Inductive Charger can be found at Target, Amazon and Best Buy, and retails for around $89. The charger sleeve retails for about $35.
