Mom Central had a night out! On Wednesday, August 1st we hosted our fifth annual “First Drink on Us” cocktail party, getting the chance to mingle with new and old friends and fellow bloggers in New York City. Although stormy weather prevented us from using the rooftop terrace, the Thompson Hotel’s Thom Bar in the chic Soho district provided the perfect alternative.

Kittichai Restaurant whipped up delicious passed hors d’oeuvres and refreshments and our wonderful sponsors offered exclusive product demos and fun. Appetizers included salmon tartar, sun-dried tomato-feta tapenade, wild mushroom flatbread pizza, vegetarian springrolls with mango sriracha, and crab cakes with spiced aioli. Traditional beef sliders with sharp cheddar featured Suzy Sirloin’s natural, deliciously seasoned beef.

Guests stopped by the Scotch Brand Crafting Corner to meet set designer and creative living expert Alton Dulaney. He demonstrated how to create DIY crafts and projects using new Scotch Expressions Tape and Scotch Decorative Shipping Packaging Tape. The Scotch Brand Express Yourself Pinterest Contest invites crafters to use these products to create their own designs and pin them for a chance to win a crafting cruise with a friend.

3M Screen Protectors displayed their new 3M Natural View Anti-Glare Screen Protectors and 3M Natural View Fingerprint Fading Screen Protectors for guests to test out. 3M Screen Protectors also created a Mobile Application Station where guests could get their phones outfitted with new 3M Natural View Anti-Glare Screen Protectors for the iPhone 4/4S. Guests without iPhones were able to request additional samples for after the event.

3M also displayed their latest mobile projector, the 3M MP225a, that easily hooks up to any mobile device to create a big-screen viewing experience for the whole family. Guests caught glimpses of movies projected right onto the screen while learning about how it can be used to make their own memorable moments.

We would like to thank our major event sponsors, which in addition to 3M include Zulily and JOHNSON’S Baby. Zulily is the leading online daily deals site for Moms, kids, and babies. Zulily launches over 35 new sales events each day for top brands, unique products, and great values. Membership is free and members gain exclusive access to the sales. JOHNSON’S Baby provides the purest, gentlest, and mildest care for babies, making them a trusted brand of Moms for over a hundred years. The JOHNSON’S Baby CARES platform is also committed to supporting and responding to the greater needs of families worldwide.

We also thanked our guests with stylish gift bags that included unique samples from Harry & David, Wilsonart HD, Henri Reserve Champagne, ShopRunner, Kleenex, Meaningful Beauty, K’NEX, Suzy Sirloin, SOUNDFREAQ, GC William, Scott, and Stone Savant Jewelry. We loved gathering great company and brands to enjoy a night out in the big city!

Be sure to mark your calendars for Wednesday, July 24 next year for our 6th annual Mom Central “First Drink on Us” event in Chicago, Illinois!
