Next generation cooking – taking the iPad into the kitchen »

For my birthday this year, my husband and daughter surprised me with an iPad, and the e-book feature continues to bring me complete joy. While I knew I would love to curl up in bed with it each night, I never anticipated using it in the kitchen.

Things I learned about cows and dairy farming thanks to the California Milk Advisory Board »

I always joke that my family needs a cow. We’re close to going through a gallon of milk a day and in the middle of writing this post, I’m sure I’ll be asked to pour at least one glass of milk for my youngest son. I’ll choose ice cream over cake any day and consider frozen yogurt a treat as well. Dairy products are a huge part of our family’s diet.

Getting Zen with Zin »

I spend most of a recent Sunday afternoon knee-deep in sugar, preparing for and supervising my daughter’s birthday party. So after the last guest left – filled to the brim with buttercream-frosted cake, cupcakes, and chocolate that dropped from the piñata – my husband and I went in search for dinner fare that didn’t involve icing.

My afternoon of pure bliss at PLACE360 »

If you find yourself in Del Mar, California and are looking for a way to unwind, consider stopping by PLACE360, a mini oasis of a spa located just 30 minutes outside of San Diego. I had the exclusive opportunity to visit PLACE360 as a VIP during my trip to San Diego during the Blogher conference. To say that I was a bit wound up when I entered the spa may be somewhat of an understatement. BlogHer is busy time of year for the staffers at Mom Central, and it’s easy to forget how the craziness affects our bodies – and our sanity. Thanks to PLACE360, I got to let everything go for a few hours and totally reboot.

Movie Review: “Real Steel” »

I’ve always been a fan of boxing. The pageantry, the fierce competition, and the freakish shape these athletes keep themselves in is astounding. Although we are decade or two removed from the Pay-Per-View glory days of the sport, it still stands as a national pastime, and the result of a big fight is always water-cooler fodder for Americans.

Let’s talk iPhone! »

For a very, very long time, I relied on a simple cell phone to make phone calls. No web connectivity, no camera, no apps, no cool cases/covers designed by famous artists, this relic was a brick with a keypad on it. It had rudimentary text messaging and wonky voicemail services, neither of which I used often.
