CES 2011: iGrill – Throw a few shrimp on the iPhone

Spoiler Alert: I’m a total sucker for grilling accessories as there is nothing better than combining two of TechDadCentral’s passions – technology and barbecue. So when I received an invite from iGrill to check out their “wireless grill monitor” while at CES, I was drawn to their booth like a moth to flame – err – grill.

So picture this:

– A dual-probe meat thermometer – one for Bobby Flay’s grilled rib-eye steak and one for the Deen Brothers’ Barbecued Chicken – connected to a controller that collects the temps in real time and sends them to you wirelessly via BlueTooth

– A free iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch app that monitors both temps and tells you when everything is done – and even estimates cooking time remaining

This spring, TechDadCentral will be firing up the Weber – putting some steaks on one side and some local bluefish on the other. Then, instead of slaving over flames and guessing about doneness, I’ll be putting my feet up with a beverage and letting the iGrill tell me when the perfection of medium-rareness has been reached.
