Dorm Room essentials with Style from Dormify 0When I first made my way to college, the dorm room accessories available were pretty standard. You had to get the standard long-fit sheets, milk crates for your books and CDs (remember CDs?), and a shower caddy for your bathroom necessities. My roommate and I even had the same towels and were always getting them mixed up! These days, everything a college student could want, including dorm room items, is about their own personal style. With Dormify the freshly-minted college student has her pick of personalized styles!

Mother-daughter team, Karen & Amanda Zuckerman searched high and low for fashionable dorm decor to match Amanda’s sophisticated and stylish taste. Unimpressed with what they found, they launched their own line of products and a website catering to just to college students at Dormify.com Everything you see on the site was not only drawn upon by the staff’s own shopping experience, but also takes into consideration the needs of digital-generation customers, by offering live support through Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest, Instagram and Snapchat.

Dorm Room essentials with Style from Dormify 1When we received our own Dormify Southern Swag Collection to review, my teen couldn’t wait to open it up. Partly because it arrived on our doorstep adorned with the cutest stickers addressing her as “Hello Gorgeous” and exclaiming, “I’m SOOOOOOOO Full!” I thought that was a cute touch. When Emilee dug in, all I could hear was “Ooh” and “Look!” as she pulled out piece after piece of her new dorm room bedding set. I think her favorites were two throw pillows one that said LOVE and the other was embellished with edgy, silver studs.

Of course, the sheets and duvet are Twin XL to fit those long dorm room beds, and bonus: the duvet is reversible for a quick change of décor! A gorgeous, matching ombré throw blanket was included, which I can picture Emilee snuggling up in, on a chilly Syracuse night.

The price point on the set we have is under $340 for: reversible duvet, XL sheet set, 4 matching throw pillows, and the ombré throw. A steal if you consider having to piecemeal a set like this together on your own, not to mention the time it would take to track down all of the items to match! But if you don’t want to buy one of these great coordinated collections, you can customize your own look by purchasing items a-la-carte. Think you’d need a ton of help in that department (like I would)? Simply answer a few questions in Dormify’s Design Plan Quiz, and voilà! Your personality type is matched to a dorm style and you need only add the items to your virtual shopping cart.

While Emilee hasn’t moved into her dorm room at Syracuse yet, she’s so excited to get settled in her new room and show off her Southern Swag. Once she is moved in, we will be sure to see what else she needs as far as décor… wall art, tapestries and accent rugs are just some of the other accessories available from Dormify. It truly is a one-stop shop for dorm room comforts!

And if you have a child like mine, who will be a freshman this fall, be sure to check out the College Freshman Planning Guide. It provides everything you need to know to get ready dorm room planning, from matching accessories with your new roommate to practical advice on mini-fridges and air conditioners. So much to know!

While I’m nervous to send my firstborn off to live independently, at least I know she will be sleeping in style.

All items can be purchased directly from Dormify.com, and recently Dormify has partnered with Macy’s to bring you select items from their collection!
