I’m a little lost when it comes to pairing wine with my meal. I mean, I can find any reason to drink wine, red, white or rose. I was recently presented with a beautiful Cabernet Sauvignon from Kokomo Winery at Timber Crest Farms in Dry Creek Valley, Healdsburg, CA as part of the California Wine Club, I couldn’t wait to try it with my Chinese take-out. A good wine can go with anything right?  My husband found it “spicy” and it was actually a great companion to the General Gao’s Chicken.

To help us amateurs with the “which wine to drink with what” problem, the California Wine Club has created an app called the CWC Food and Wine Pairing Wheel.  And that is exactly what it is. Choose your meal type and different dishes under that category can be found my scanning the wheel.  Each dish presented offers a few different choices of wine in which to pair with your meal. For instance, did you know that a Zinfandel goes swimmingly with a bacon cheeseburger?  Neither did I.  I think on my next dinner out, I will slyly pull out my smartphone and suggest wines while viewing the wheel under the table.  No one will be the wiser.

The app is currently free and is a great for on-the-go purchases at both restaurants and the grocery store.  The app is available at the iTunes app store starting in early October and can be found here.

You can purchase your own bottle of Kokomo Cabernet Sauvignon from the California Wine Club. Enter the promo code momcentral at checkout and receive four bottles of wine for the price of two.

Disclosure: Mom Central received a bottle of Kokomo Cabernet Sauvignon and a sneak peek at the CWC Food and Wine Pairing Wheel to facilitate this review.
