Disclosure: I received a product sample in order to facilitate my review. All opinions expressed in this post are honest and my own.

Some of my fondest childhood memories involve creating and playing in imaginary worlds with friends and family. More often than not, these make-believe worlds incorporated real-life structures, to help bring our pretend scenes to life. Crafting forts out of chairs, couch cushions, and blankets, and using clothespins to keep them together, we acted out prince and princess adventures, firefighter rescues, and family life.

My own kids love to make forts in our house, too, but (let’s be honest) while fun the kids, for us moms, forts prove messy and a whole lot of work, since kids never want to clean up the pillows, sheets and blankets they drag out.

Featured in the ‘Innovation’ section of a conference I attended (and rightfully so!), The Airfort brings together the best of both worlds. Developed by dad/daughter duo Ed and Luciana Hanley, The Airfort comes instantly to life using a 20″ household box fan or an 18″ tabletop round fan, providing hours of imaginary fun inside a safe, domed fort for children of all ages.

The Airfort offers easy set-up, seeing how any of my three kids (ages 8, 6, and 3) can set it up! And the best part? It’s also super-simple for kids to put away—they just stuff it back in the bag and pop it back into its storage closet, no parts to lose, no tools required. The Airfort weighs so little and occupies such a small amount of space, I felt amazed by the BIG fun enjoyed when out!

We live in Chicago where the winters are loooong. All 3 of my kids LOVE playing in the airfort. A special spot just for them, it serves as a reading nook, a Lego construction center, a hideout, and a play house/castle. I anticipate The Airfort bringing joy out in the backyard, too, with the help of an extension cord.

Featuring a mesh screen to protect little fingers from the fan required to inflate the fort, The Airfort also offers Mom and Dad additional peace of mind via the little peekaboo window to check on the kids through. A few times, I found them asleep inside, wiped out from all the fun!

I can’t wait to give the totally unique Airfort to others. It already sits at the top of my birthday and Christmas lists for friends and family this year. To learn more about my awesome find, visit the brand’s website at www.airfort.com.
