This investigative murder thriller features intrepid former FBI agent Jessica Blackwood teaming up with Sloan McPherson who’s a supersmart Florida-based investigator who specializes in underwater deaths.

The FBI, who turns to Jessica when cases thoroughly stump them, has asked her to investigate the death of YouTube influencer found by a ranger encased in a salt obelisk in the remote wilderness in Utah. The FBI then adds on a second murder: a TikTok influencer found chained with hands in the prayer position at the bottom of Nevada’s Pyramid Lake. Jessica calls in Sloan to help her out.

With time ticking before what appears to be a serial killer targeting social media influencers and committing murders with ritual like components, Jessica and Sloane race to figure out who’s behind the killings. Turns out there’s a large sinister plot at work here. Together the two women prove clever, independent, resourceful, and resilient to some overly macho agents.

Kept me reading fast to find out what’s going to happen next! Can’t wait for more from Mayne!
