With summer here, all eyes are on Rio and the Olympic Games that will be keeping us captivated to our televisions from August 5 to 21. Some of us will check off that bucket list item and attend the games in person, by visiting Brazil.
To celebrate this surge of travel, Kayak, the world’s leading travel search engine, looked within its more than one billion annual searches, and introduced KAYAK’s GLOBAL TRAVEL GAMES, a competition among the brand’s 40 international sites which uncovered how people globally are planning their travel to the Games in Rio.
Here are some of the highlights:
USA places third in two categories. Americans are all about luxury and efficiency. USA ranks third amongst global travelers searching for first-class seats, with Korea and Switzerland placing at first and second, respectively. USA also places third for direct-only flyers, with only Switzerland and Ireland coming out ahead.
Germans are the thriftiest and the most likely to plan ahead. Deutschland tops the list of countries looking for a good bargain to Rio, followed by Italy and France. Germany also nabbed the top spot for advance planners, followed by Great Britain and the Netherlands.
Austrians are the most family-oriented. The top traveling families recognition goes to Austria, followed by Hong Kong and Italy.
