Thinking about the impending winter, with the snow and cold air whipping around the tall New York City buildings, I get nostalgic for summer, sun, and warm breezes. However, when Mom Central New York recently went to a showroom for the Lands’ End Spring 2012 Preview, I could just picture myself relaxing on the sand.

We all know that a family trip to the beach does not always mean a day of relaxation. While running after the kids in the sand, jumping around in the water, Moms want to be covered up, but still look cute. That’s why I loved Lands’ End’s new SwimMates collection; it introduces a new way to mix, match and layer pieces over your swimsuit. With this new collection of cover-ups that match bathing suit prints, Moms can look fashionable while feeling comfortable, too.

The spring collection featured an array of women’s, men’s, and children’s clothing, and  bedding and outdoor furniture in its classic America style. The kids graphic tees are adorable with fun twists on the typical look (a t-rex with a mohawk!) and the boys swim line has that all-American surfer dude style. The women’s line featured an array of flattering dresses and the linens looked light and cool for summer vacations. I also loved that the men’s suit collection was inspired by the Newport Jazz Festival style of the 50s and 60s. You can just see John F. Kennedy looking dapper in that style.

This great American brand has great pieces for the whole family that you can trust to be durable for an updated classic look. Just because I’m living in New York City, does’t mean I can’t plan my outfits for my next tropical getaway, even if we’re expecting snow next week.

Disclosure: Allison attended a Lands’ End spring collection preview event on behalf of Mom Central and received a Lands’ End gift bag and gift card.
