Disclosure: We received the Matcha Maker and Matcha tea from DAVIDsTEA to facilitate our post. All opinions are our own.

DavidsTea2Whether you’ve tried it yet or not, you have likely recently heard of Matcha tea. I pass by café after café in New York advertising their Matcha offerings. Personally, I love the taste of this specially grown and processed green tea, whether I drink it, bake it into cookies, or pour it over oatmeal. Many consumers integrate Matcha into their daily caffeine routines because of the added health benefits Matcha provides. Matcha proves a more potent source of nutrients than do traditional teas, teeming with antioxidants that have been tied to protection against heart disease and cancer, better blood sugar regulation, blood pressure reduction, and anti-aging.

Because Matcha is a finely ground tea, we make it a bit differently than our traditional loose leaf varietal. Matcha requires whisking with hot water in order to dilute the tea throughout the beverage.

DavidsTea5Since many of us don’t carry an on-the-go whisk, preparing Matcha outside of the kitchen has proven a challenge – until we discovered the handy Matcha Maker from DAVIDsTEA.

To test the Matcha Maker, we used the Pumpkin Pie Matcha from DAVIDsTEA, a limited edition, pre-sweetened flavor – ideal for all of us obsessed with everything pumpkin in the fall – which tastes delicious on its own as well as amazing with steamed milk.

DavidsTea3The Matcha Maker really made the process of brewing my delicious Pumpkin Pie Matcha easy on-the-go. Simply measure a ½ tsp of Matcha and pour into the bottom of the empty container. Pour hot water up to the indicated line, then add the frother and lid, and shake vigorously for 10-20 seconds until Matcha is thoroughly mixed and topped with foam. The lid has a safety button to ensure that you do not end up wearing your Matcha during this process!

If Matcha doesn’t pique your fancy, we love that this tumbler also comes equipped with a fine mesh tea infuser to brew traditional loose leaf tea on the go.

The Matcha Maker is available online at DAVIDsTEA.com, or in stores, for $35.00.
