If you find yourself in Del Mar, California and are looking for a way to unwind, consider stopping by PLACE360, a mini oasis of a spa located just 30 minutes outside of San Diego.
I had the exclusive opportunity to visit PLACE360 as a VIP during my trip to San Diego during the Blogher conference. To say that I was a bit wound up when I entered the spa may be somewhat of an understatement. BlogHer is busy time of year for the staffers at Mom Central, and it’s easy to forget how the craziness affects our bodies – and our sanity. Thanks to PLACE360, I got to let everything go for a few hours and totally reboot.
PLACE360 is decorated in Asian-inspired décor, much of which was brought back from the owner’s trips abroad. Part of the experience of visiting a spa is the chance to spend time in a facility completely designed for relaxation and this place doesn’t disappoint. My favorite room was the relaxation lounge a dimly lit cove (complete with cucumber water and chocolate covered pretzels) where I waited for my session to begin.
If you’ve ever had a massage before, you know the pure bliss of laying down, taking a deep breath, and letting your mind drift to another world while someone else pampers you. My masseuse quietly worked me from head to toe, spending extra time on the knot that has taken up permanent residence in my upper back. By the end of the session all the built up stress – and the knot – were gone.
I finished the day with a trip to their Swedish shower where I took my time steaming and rinsing down while I debated asking (begging) them to let me start the day over. At lunch with a colleague following my trip to PLACE360, I was in such a relaxed daze, I was told that I was almost too calm to recognize.
PLACE360 offers a range of services, all of which are linked to their philosophy of “health, wellness, and organic self-enrichment.” From their website, they’re “committed to making it easy and comfortable to access a range of support for living a healthy, beautiful life inside and out: Acupuncture, Chinese Herbal Medicine, Homeopathy, Health Coaching, Nutrition, Guided Outdoor Fitness Programs, Skin Care, Waxing, Eye lash extensions, Massage Therapy and Permanent Make-up.”
And though a visit to the spa may not be in every family’s monthly budgets PLACE360 offers options to help make the trip more affordable:
