Long before the days of smartphones, e-books, and tablets, I was invited down south with my then-4-year-old on a weeklong beach vacation with friends.

As is the case with many young kids, my daughter loved watching her shows while she relaxed, and going through book after book was an integral part of her bedtime routine. I worried about how I would keep her entertained during downtime at our Florida villa without it all.

I gave in to the pressure.

Suitcases laden with kids’ DVDs and books, Alexandra & I set out on holiday. We had a great time with our friends, despite the extra baggage I had to tote there and back!

These days, as I watch my brother, sister, and cousins entertain their children using smartphones and tablets, I think about how lucky today’s parents are, with entertainment literally at their fingertips. On road trips, in restaurants, and in dentists’ waiting areas, media sits on standby, ready to entertain when needed.

Playster, an innovative online streaming service that offers members unlimited access to millions of quality content titles across a ton of media categories, recently announced a partnership with Hasbro Studios. This kids-focused collaboration expands Playster’s robust children’s catalog with even more classic favorites, like Transformers Animated, Clue, Kaijudo, and various G.I. Joe titles.

With a single, super user-friendly app, members can toggle easily between music, e-books, audiobooks, comics, TV shows, movies, and games, all for only $24.95USD/$22.50CAD per month. Oh how I would have LOVED to have Playster, the world’s first all-in-one entertainment streaming service, when my kids were little!

There’s plenty of content for Mom & Dad, too! This book-loving mama can read to her heart’s content! Or be read-to via audiobook, if she’s so inclined. Playster’s e-book and audiobook selection is incredible. I’ve bookmarked The Prince of Tides (by Pat Conroy), Wasted: A Memoir (by Marya Hornbacher), and I Know This Much is True (by Wally Lamb).

One lucky mom will win a Playster Combo Box including a 8-inch Android Tablet, Headphones and a 3-month subscription to Playster (approximate retail value $300USD). To be entered for your chance to win, simply leave a comment below with an example of when/where you’d love to have easy access to kids’ TV, movies, games, books, and more. We’ll contact the winner via email by Wednesday, February 23rd. This giveaway is open to both Canadian (excluding Quebec) & U.S. residents, and closes on Tuesday at 11:59 ET on February 22, 2017.

We are going to Cuba next month with an 8 and 1 year old, I hope we don’t need tech to entertain them much in the day but I do know it will be very beneficial in the evening and airports! Thank you! :)

It would be great to have this for my daughter when we go on road trips. Even though we play I-spy & other games, it can get boring for her on a long drive.

  3. This would be great for my son when we are in the car and it would even be great for at home!! Thank you for this awesome giveaway and good luck everyone!!

As an expecting first time mom only due in a few months, Playster would truly help me get all mom ready! I can’t wait to indulge in the lastest on what children love to keep my updated. Plus it doesn’t hurt that I will be learning some new things as well. This will truly help a first time mom!

I would love to have my kids entertained almost evertime we ar in public. Being a single mom with 2 preschoolers it is tough… especially in waiting rooms or restaurants. I always dread it. We eat at McDonald’s alot because it is the only place that can entertain the kids. Car trips arw always fun to… “are we there yet?”

  6. Deborah Cochran says:

We love to take weekend road trips or just to hang out at the beach. This is perfect for long rides in the car listening to our favorite music or reading a good book while relaxing at the beach. Those long waits in the doctor/dentist offices would go by much faster with access to Playster. Thanks so much for the chance!

With a very active and inquisitive preschool daughter who loves to learn, read, dance and explore… the Playster combo box checks all the boxes! As a busy mother, this would surely be a great companion at home and on the road! We also would love to share it with her friends! ;)

My kids would enjoy this every time we travel back and forth to grandparents house. My 3 year old really would while I do school work with my 7 year old son(he’s home-schooled)! Perfect to keep little hands busy!

Traveling 4,000+Miles to see family in the states this summer. Would be nice for the road trip.

  18. Sharon I. says:

I’d love to have easy access via Playster for traveling and also at home – much easier to have these available electronically than having stacks of books around the house that get read once and then I have to figure out what to do with them.

  19. Jessica Taylor says:

Taking care of my elderly father keeps me in between doctors appointments. Trying to accomplish this while entertaining a toddler can be quite challenging. Playster sounds so amazing! Truly a mommy must app!

  20. Eevon says:

This is a great one for the kids to enjoy especially when we’re traveling on long flights to Singapore. It would be so educational and fun for the kids to have access to this while they’re on 24 hours flight. Learning while traveling is so much fun!!!!
