Disclosure: Mom Central received a complimentary Mind Booster PSiO 1.1 to facilitate this review. All opinions expressed here are our own.

Ask any Mom, and most likely she’ll agree – family life today proves busier than ever. Technology enables the workday to stretch into the wee hours, kids run from school to afternoon activities without a break in the action, and Moms juggle work, household tasks, volunteer activities, and family commitments – all the while trying to keep it all in motion.

Due in large part to our hectic, non-stop lives, we’ve seen a recent uptick in mindful practices. From yoga in schools to meditation in the workplace, it seems we’ve begun to realize the benefits of taking a deep breath and slowing down.

So while attending the CE Week Showstoppers in New York recently, I came across the PSiO booth and became intrigued at the sight of countless attendees standing in a line that wrapped around the corner. All had queued up for the chance to try out Mind Booster PSiO 1.1, a portable audiovisual stimulator that offers a relaxing respite in the midst of a whirlwind world.

I discovered the PSiO really represents an MP3 Color Player located inside of visor-type glasses. You simply put on the glasses, insert the earbuds, and choose from the assortment of music and color-based programs. You can select from programs that include relaxation, meditation, music, and performance. Depending on what you settle on, you’ll see flashes of colored lights and hear an array of sounds that promote relaxation, relieve stress, and help us recharge and rejuvenate.

As I found myself in the middle of a hectic travel and meeting schedule, I jumped at the opportunity to try out the Mind Booster PSiO for myself. Moreover, I’ve practiced yoga for years, so I understand how taking time to focus inward and simply breathe can really help us regain balance and restore a sense of calmness in our lives.

I discovered that sitting down for five minutes in my office wearing the PSiO and using one of the programs enabled me to truly relax – despite the flurry of activity going on outside my door – and left me totally energized. For me, I found the post-PSiO feeling similar to how I feel after yoga – refreshed, inspired, and infused with a sense of calmness.

PSiO also proved a hit with our Mom Central team members who also expressed similar sentiments after using the Mind Booster. They, too, found it relaxing and also said it provided a real bridge for someone interested the benefits of meditation, but who hadn’t yet had much success getting started. The lights, colors, and sounds of PSiO seemed much easier than simply trying to sit still and meditate.

In addition to using Mind Booster PSiO 1.1 as a straightforward relaxation device, we also learned that it proves helpful on the go – both while in transit and as a way to adjust and recover from a trying trip.

PSiO also points to research that shows that AVS (audiovisual stimulation) can be an effective alternative therapy for ADHD, ADD, and SAD (seasonal affective disorder). This research also says AVS can reduce symptoms of additional conditions, including insomnia, stress, PMS, and others.

PSiO offers five different models, and more programs can be downloaded from www.psioplanet.com. Mind Booster PSiO 1.1 typically sells for $399.99, and can be purchased at www.psiousa.com. Now, by using the promotion code “Moms” when you place an order, you can get 25% off of the price of the PSiO glasses.

All I can say is WOW – welcome to the future!
