As computers, video games and TV become a greater presence in my four-year old daughter’s life, I try to seek out traditional toys to encourage creative, imaginative play opportunities. Like many preschoolers, Brooke loves to play with dolls and I find the older she gets – the smaller and more intricate the pieces become! Her favorite dolls especially are the ones with separate features, such as houses, clothes and other accessories that help her bring them to life better.

I recently had the chance to review two new products from the newly revamped Polly Pockets line. In response to feedback from moms and girls, the popular doll line now features a new Stick ‘n’ Play innovation – suction components that ensure a Polly piece won’t get lost again, since that’s always a concern and issue with small pieces and accessories.

Polly Pocket Playtime PetShop

With Playtime PetShop, Polly has the ultimate animal-grooming center for her pets! With a total of eight pets, my daughter was busy caring for each one. One of her favorite features was the small elevator for the pets to ride up to their bathing station. The Polly doll fits perfectly into a shoe holder next to the bath, where she can move back and forth to clean the pets, then dry them off with the tiny towel.

After bath time, Polly can slip down the slide and open the trap door to meet her pets as fun little treats and toys await them at the bottom. My daughter loved to reward the pets for their good bath behavior at the manual treat dispenser. Once all her pets were squeaky clean, she couldn’t wait to show them off in the window display carousel for all the potential customers, too.

Polly Pocket Hangout House

Another Polly Pocket set my daughter couldn’t get enough of was the Hangout House Playset. Sure she loved sending Polly doll up the spinning staircase and flipping the bed into a rooftop pool, but none of this compares to my favorite part: the suction cups! At the bottom of every piece in the set was a little suction cup that ensured never losing a piece of Polly’s world in our own.

This “Stick N’ Play” feature also meant that my daughter could rearrange the entire playhouse to her own specifications. Even the walls spin around for different room settings! There is an endless number of options involved in the Hangout House that will keep my daughter hooked on Polly Pocket for quite a while.
