Disclosure: Safari Tales is a client of Influence Central.

When our kids were small, we Moms loved nothing more than curling up with them to read a bedtime story or spending a lazy Sunday afternoon poring over a picture book. Sharing story time allowed us the opportunity to spend one-on-one time with our kids, as well as introduce them to the adventures and explorations that come from diving into a good book.

Then, seemingly overnight, our kids graduated on to chapter books they wanted to tackle themselves and, inevitably, discovered digital technology in all its forms – smartphones, tablets, gaming systems, and laptops – all filled with apps and games galore.

So much for reading with Mom.

Now, Kuato Studios has launched an innovative adventure game that combines the digital elements that today’s kids demand with the storybook features and collaborative family reading opportunities that parents love. Safari Tales blends a combination of animals, music, vocabulary, fun characters, and adventure to create a compelling education-based game that can be saved as an interactive book and shared later with parents.

Set in the African savanna, Safari Tales follows the adventures of five animals – including Darwin, the Meerkat guide – and kids can engage in a variety of activities, including learning about animals that live in the habitat, exploring the region’s geographic features such as grasslands, trees, and rivers, and trying out a few phrases in Swahili. As a result, Safari Tales proves educationally focused and allows kids – from age 4 to 10 – to grasp key concepts about science, the environment, and language – all the while exploring a fascinating new world. Plus, they have so much fun, it doesn’t occur to them that they’re learning.

Moreover, Safari Tales features vibrant, colorful graphics, which draw kids right into the story and experience. You truly feel as if you’re moving across the savanna or swooping down a waterfall as you explore along with the animals. The overall gaming experience also fosters kids’ creativity – as they can put their own artistic spin on the animal characters or engage the animals in a musical performance.

Safari5

Unlike so many activities that amuse kids just in the moment, Safari Tales features a unique element of longevity – once kids have finished with a gaming experience, they have the ability to save what they’ve done (and learned!) – which includes both the specific activity and any type of creative element they added. They then can go back and re-read the digital adventure tale, as well as re-engage with the experience – even sharing it all with Mom!

Safari Tales engages kids in so many different ways – one of the most compelling proves to be the Q & A sessions they can conduct with Darwin the Meerkat. The game incorporates SIRI software from Apple to offer Safari Tales a unique interactive component. It’s another way that Safari Tales draws kids out and creates an interactive, educational experience. Take a look here at a trailer for Safari Tales:

Finally, the Parent Corner section of Safari Tales turns the game into a family experience. Not only can kids share the digital adventure book with Mom and Dad, but parents also can help kids ensure the game works at the ideal age-level and establish timing parameters to ensure that kids don’t remain on the savanna for too long!

Available for Apple or Android digital devices, Safari Tales can be purchased from the following online sites for $3.99:
