Mom Central was loaned a set of SONOS speakers to facilitate this post. All opinions are our own.
In today’s society, we certainly listen to music on more devices than ever before. Growing up, I’d discover new music on the radio or browse through titles at the local music store. Now we’re downloading and streaming on our mobile devices, computers, tablets and more!
Despite the numerous ways I listen to music, I’ve found that I haven’t spent too much time listening to music at home – probably because I don’t have the right speakers. I recently discovered the SONOS PLAY:1 speakers, which easily allowed me to incorporate my favorite music into moments at home.
Though the speakers are compact, they produce a big quality sound. I was able to easily download the SONOS app (which is available to download for your phones, tablets, and computers) and could then peruse through playlists of music on my phone, scan through local radio stations, and even sync up my Pandora and Spotify accounts.
I loved sitting in the living room listening to local radio stations playing holiday tunes while writing out Christmas cards this year. It was also so nice to have a playlist streaming while having dinner together at home, something we haven’t done before and really enhanced a nice night at home. I attended an ‘80s party at a friend’s house this month (an ideal event for a child of the ‘80s!) where the host had SONOS PLAY:1 speakers throughout his home – one by the appetizer table, one in the kitchen, one in the living room – ensuring that the fun ‘80s tunes could be heard (but not overpowering the conversation) throughout the home.
The quality was incredible, and it was so easy to adjust the volume of the speakers from the smartphone app, and pause it if I had to turn it down for an incoming call where I needed silence, etc.
When setting up SONOS PLAY:1 speakers, you sync the units with your app to determine which device is located in which room of your home (if you have multiple units). For example, I could name one master bedroom and another one dining room, and control the playlist on each separately.
“Sonos was created upon the belief you should never have to choose between quality sound and an easy way to access all your music at home,” said John MacFarlane, CEO, Sonos, Inc. “The PLAY:1 makes getting started with Sonos even more accessible to music lovers than ever before.”
