We take photos to capture moments and preserve memories. These images of our ever-changing lives help us record memories for family, friends, to pass down through generations. What if your photographs showed beautiful, memorable scenes as well as the depth of where the photograph was taken? What if you could take photos in full HD3D?
You can! Panasonic created and recently released a full HD3D interchangeable lens, compatible with their Lumix G series of cameras, giving photographers the option of taking pictures in 3D.
The photos are spectacular!
Images for the right and left eye are taken at the same time, through two different, but identical lenses. These photos “artificially reproduce the phenomenon of visual disparity” to create the images in 3D.
To view the images, simply take the SD card out of your Lumix G camera, slide it into the SD slot on your full HD3D television and look at the pictures wearing your 3D glasses. Users currently need this full 3D set-up to see the images in 3D. However, once you take the photo, it is recorded twice on your SD card: once as a 3D image, and once as a flat 2D image, enabling use of the image the same way you would a regular photograph.
The lens doesn’t allow you to zoom in our out to take your shot, but if you can get your photograph cropped the way you want by moving around a little, the results are worth it.
Imagine taking a photo of your family standing at the edge of the Grand Canyon in 3D! That photograph would be outstanding! I can’t wait to explore the possibilities of this lens as our family takes our Big Adventures in the future. The pictures will completely capture these special times, not just in a flat plane, but in full HD3D.
