Tooth Fairy 2 Set Visit

Earlier in March, I had the opportunity to visit the set of Tooth Fairy 2, starring Larry the Cable Guy, in Orlando, FL. With temperatures in Boston hovering around 30 and a good foot of snow still on the ground, it didn’t take much convincing for me to pack my bags and take off for Universal Studios.

Following the same general storyline as the original Tooth Fairy movie, the sequel stars Larry the Cable guy (Dan Whitney), a man who finds himself down on his luck and filling in for the Tooth Fairy after inadvertently telling a child the tooth fairy doesn’t exist:

“Tooth Fairy 2 finds Florida car repairman and one-time Metro County Miracle bowling champ Larry Guthrie (Larry the Cable Guy) having one bad day. He just learned his ex-girlfriend, schoolteacher Brooke (Erin Beute), plans to marry his arch-enemy, a local politician (David Mackey). When Larry shows up at Brooke’s after-school program to talk her out of it, his big mouth lands him in trouble as he inadvertently breaks the news to a child that the Tooth Fairy is just a myth. Now, unless Larry collects 20 teeth in 20 days, the Tooth Fairies are going to erase his greatest memory. And unless he can prove to Brooke that he’s a changed man, he’s going to lose her forever.”

With Larry the Cable Guy spending a sizeable portion of the film in a pink tutu and adlibbing many of his scenes, this film will appeal to parents and kids alike and should be a hilarious follow-up to the original.
As part of our visit, we were lucky enough to spend some time with the producer of the film, Alan Blomquist, also known for Cider House Rules, Walk the Line, Chocolat, and Larry the Cable Guy: Health Inspector, and star Dan Whitney. Both were able to offer unique perspectives on the movie, what filming had been like so far, and their careers in general. Down to earth and personable, they shared stories of how they got into the business, what they’ve liked most in making Tooth Fairy 2, and what’s next from here.

We were also able to spend time with one of the adorable piglets featured in the film and it’s hard to say whether as a group we were more excited for Alan and Dan or the pig…
