I feel transitional pieces prove the best long-term clothing investments. Clothes that easily make their way from one season to the next not only prove worth dollar wise, but also show versatility in how often they can be worn. For me, that ranks as the ultimate win, and luckily Lands’ End has a lot of options that meet the mark.

My favorite piece this season, the Waterfall Cardigan Sweater, features a flowy, open style that puts a spin on a standard cardigan look. I have a lot of cardigan sweaters in various colors and patterns, many of which I purchased at Lands’ End. Its heavier fabric means I wear it more as a jacket over dresses for cooler end of summer/early fall nights, at this point in the season. I love how it looks with dresses too, in particular with a sheath-style look. As the weather gets colder, I can see myself throwing the Waterfall Cardigan Sweater on for a comfier feel with with leggings and tall riding boots, which after a string of very hot days, I can’t wait to wear again!

I find more often than not that I opt for flats, over high heels. With so many flat styles on the market these days, I still achieve a put-together look, but with a lot more comfort. The Classic Ballet Flats from Lands’ End prove the perfect option. With so much cushioning in the shoe, and soft leather, I easily walk around in these all day. The extra design flair comes from the metal tipped bow, so they stand out more than a plainer flat would. This style comes in four darker fall colors, including classic black and cognac brown. I decided to mix it up and go with the Bordeaux shade as I thought the wine-red hue would look great for fall, and could work for either brown or black color palettes.

What’s next on my Lands’ End shopping radar? Skirts! Never a big skirt fan, I love the midi-length styles that are big this season. Lands’ End offers many options to choose from. I may go a little wild and purchase this striped Woven Midi Skirt, a departure for me as I do not typically opt for stripes. The longer length and slightly flared look seems like it will be easier to wear, and I could see it pairing well with a chunky black sweater and booties. Stay tuned!
