The scene plays out the same way every time- you’ve invited guests to visit your home, so prior to their arrival you spend hours running around your house cleaning, knowing that the cleanup will begin again once everyone leaves. The Neato vacuum, an automatic robotic vacuum, aims to make cleaning less time consuming and enables you to sit back and put your feet up- literally.
The automatic vacuum cleans all floor surfaces and avoids collisions with furniture, walls and doorways thanks to its Room Positioning System (RPS). Based on laser vision technology, RPS maps the layout of each room in order to clean completely without damaging any obstacles that stand in the way. You can take convenience one step further and set your device to run automatically according to a pre-programmed schedule.
When the Neato senses its power dwindling, it returns to its station to recharge before heading to the place where it left off in the cleaning cycle. The methodical path of parallel cleaning sweeps helps ensure that each room has been fully cleaned before the unit moves on to remaining areas on the map.
While I’ve never had the chance to try the Neato myself, I’m intrigued by the concept of a robotic vacuum. I love the concept of programming a vacuum schedule and being able to eliminate a task from my to-do list but am curious as to whether the vacuum can stand the test of being used day in and day out.
