Going to the grocery store these days, you can find cookies of all shapes, sizes, and flavors for every occasion imaginable. Yet it proves more of a challenge to find cookies that you can serve to guests or enjoy with your morning coffee without worrying about high fructose corn syrup, artificial colors or additives. Fortunately, the Walkers company of Scotland continues to produce quality shortbread cookies (called biscuits back home in Scotland) that have not changed much since their launch in the early 1900s.
Even today, Walkers still operates out of the small 700-person village in Scotland where it was founded. Though bigger, with the fourth generation of Walkers now running the business, the core values of loyalty and family still define the bakery. The shortbread recipe remains the same and continues to use butter and all-natural ingredients that made Walker’s famous back in the day. In the years since, the company has earned national awards for its quality goods and even possesses a royal warrant for the supply of oatcakes to the Queen. We kind of like that we can eat the same cookies as the Queen, don’t you?!
At Mom Central, we had the chance to taste the Mini Crunchy Oatmeal Cookies. Like the rest of Walker’s products, the cookies contain no artificial flavors, hydrogenated fats, artificial preservatives, antibiotics, or bovine growth hormones and have been certified kosher. (You can read more about Walkers’ quality standards here.) Each little cookie makes a tasty match for your morning coffee or to serve to guests with dessert. You can taste the all-natural ingredients and real butter in every crunchy bite.
