Whether we’re Moms ourselves, or are grateful to the Moms in our lives, Mother’s Day is a great way to honor the special women who do so much. Breakfast in bed, flowers, a special day spent with family – these are some of the ways we celebrate Moms.

Being a Mom is one of the hardest jobs there is, and that’s universal no matter where you live, or how many children you have. But what if being pregnant or becoming a Mom is also one of the most dangerous or precarious situations you could find yourself in? Over 800 women die each day during pregnancy and childbirth, but 90% of these cases are preventable because of life-saving care and hospitals and clinics that are available, but out of reach for some.

Kangu.org was started as a way to fund the safe births of women around the world

Kangu was started as a way to fund the safe births of babies around the world. It’s driven through donations for the healthy labor and delivery of real women who share their story and journey as they welcome a baby into this world. It’s a Mom like Cinthia who lives in Guatemala and wants to have a safe birth as she continues her own studies. She notes how important educating her future child means to her.

There is also a gifting option on the Kangu website so you can donate in someone else’s name. As Mother’s Day approaches, it’s a great gift to show Mom how much you care about Motherhood in general, and knowing how beneficial any donation can be to someone in need, says a lot more than flowers. Even better, both the giver and the recipient will receive an update when the Mom has her baby, which helps bring such a personal connection to the entire process.

If you would like to share in Kangu’s mission and gift a safe birth for Mother’s Day, please visit kangu.org.
