alexia-pagones-editorThere are lots of different types of eaters out there: the pickers, the grazers, the snackers, the 5-small-meals-a-day-ers. Well, I like to think of myself as a healthy mix of all of those, but when it comes to snacking … consider me an expert.

Finding healthier snack options can be tough, especially ones that satisfy a craving as well as the chocolate chip cookies on the countertop. I find the best way to enjoy healthy snacks is to jazz them up with layers of flavors!

For example, you may have read my recent post about the new Dannon Light & Fit Tiramisu Flavored Greek nonfat yogurt. First of all, tiramisu is a decadent treat I rarely have the pleasure of enjoying, so the fact that it’s available in a Light & Fit yogurt is a gift from above!

But secondly, the flavor lends itself to some great add-ins. To start, try some fresh fruit – especially ones you might typically use to flavor your daily coffee. Are you a fan of raspberry lattes? Throw some fresh raspberries into your Dannon Light & Fit Tiramisu Flavored Greek nonfat yogurt. I’m a fan of blueberry flavoring in my coffee, which is why I often eat this yogurt with fresh blueberries.

FUN TRICK: Freeze your fresh blueberries or grapes and add those to your yogurt to make a healthy snack perfect for those hot summer days – it almost resembles frozen yogurt. Overall, any fruit (fresh, frozen, or dried) that has an earthier essence pairs well with the flavors of espresso in Dannon Light & Fit Tiramisu Flavored Greek nonfat yogurt.

I’m also a fan of dips and dunk-able snacks like pita and hummus, or carrots and a light yogurt-based dip. When it comes to this yogurt, though, dipping yummy treats like graham crackers or those honey wheat pretzels tastes like a homerun!

If you prefer yogurt in the morning, you can use some of these same add-ins as makeshift granola. Crumbled graham crackers or honey wheat pretzels offer great texture, and fresh fruit is never a bad thing when you first wake up! I’ve also sprinkled vanilla- or cinnamon-flavored granola into this yogurt for that added indulgence.

Not only does layering flavors spice up the experience, it also allows for more nutrient intake beyond simply eating a serving of yogurt alone (although it does taste scrumptious all on its own)! With 12 grams of protein, 80 calories, and 0% fat per 5.3 ounces, Dannon Light & Fit Tiramisu Flavored Greek nonfat yogurt satisfies taste buds and helps shrink away daily temptations. You can’t go wrong!

Let us know about some fun ways you’ve dressed up your snacking or taken a healthy treat to the next level!
