Summer may be coming to an end, but the return of weekend game day viewing parties remain one of my favorite reasons to welcome fall.
Whether we’re following our college football team on Saturdays, or hosting friends for Sunday or Monday night football, getting together to root for our favorite teams proves a quintessential favorite autumn pastimes – especially when we can serve some of our favorite game day hors d’oeuvres and treats.
If looking to ‘up’ your hosting ‘game’ this season, create and serve impressive treats that even the opposing team would appreciate:
When serving a stack of delicious, piping nachos, why not go beyond the standard and incorporate some healthy, hearty ingredients into this snack, such as organic black beans, mango chunks, and fresh avocado? Nachos love cheese, and we love the Kitchen IQ V-etched container grater for grating the perfect amount. The container includes three V-etched blades, allowing you to easily customize cheese to fine, coarse, and extra coarse. The non-stick coating on the blades makes for easy clean-up, and we love that the container actually features a measuring device so we know how much cheese we grated!
Consider baking German pretzels and serving with spicy cheese or honey mustard dip – impressive, and a bit out of the ordinary! With the Pretzel Perfect Silpat, you’ll lay out the sticky pretzel dough into perfect shapes, with even spacing. Enjoy making jalapeno poppers, baked wings, and other crowd pleasers with Silpat. Silpat’s non-stick coating allows for easy clean-up, and the spacing guidelines on the mats make for foolproof baking for even the junior varsity chef.
For the main event, we love using Le Creuset Dutch Oven to create the perfect chili or macaroni and cheese. Not only does the Dutch Oven evenly distribute the cooking process and lock in the ideal amount of moisture, but they also prove beautiful to carry from the oven to your tableside trivet. We loved how baking macaroni in cheese in the Dutch Oven left a beautiful layer of crispy cheese coating our pasta. This would also be a great game day investment for chilis and soups on cold days!
If it’s not your turn to host and you’re traveling to a friend’s home, you can use PackIt freezable cooler bags to store perishable items and keep beverages cool for that trip across town – and beyond! With PackIt, items stay chilled for up to 10 hours! PackIt offers carryall freezable lunch bags, larger grocery sized bags, and even wine totes. They easily fold up for the trip home. We use PackIt all the time for road trips, picnics, and even taking lunch to work!
Even if you’re celebrating a victory, there’s always the clean-up process. We love using Casabella’s Sparkle Sponges after a game to make even doing the dishes touchdown-dance-worthy!
