Disclosure: We attended a screening of the JetBlue’s HumanKinda film. All opinions are our own.

JetBlue2Believing ‘Busy’ has become almost like a badge of honor in America, JetBlue recently released a comedy documentary entitled “HumanKinda” – starring Comedy Actor Sam Richardson, and directed by Bianca Giaever. Throughout the film, Richardson observes the growing number of Americans who say they’re “too busy” to live healthy, enjoyable lives. He introduces viewers to two people: a man who works eight different jobs, and a single mom, both of whom characterize their lives as “too busy”.

Ryan James Butler, the first test subject, was paired up with James Ward, the founder of the Boring Conference, and they spent the day basically doing nothing. The film showed the humorous ways that Butler and Ward spent a day watching ducks in a park. Jennifer Kitchin, the other test subject, flew on JetBlue to Florida where she connected with a group of retirees to unwind and relax.

JetBlue3The solutions may seem extreme, but these hilarious situations illustrate the epidemic plaguing America that glorifies being “busy”, urging audiences to ask: Am I human or am I becoming only HumanKinda?

Americans claim to be ‘too busy’ to vote, take a vacation or even find love. Additionally, the survey conducted by Harris Poll on behalf of JetBlue showed that 42 percent of Americans have missed an important event (such as birthdays, children’s activities and family vacations) thanks to their ‘busyness.’

Although meant to entertain, I have to admit, I left the screening asking myself some pretty deep questions about how I spend my time. This funny film is definitely worth a watch, and is available right now on the JetBlue HumanKinda website or Amazon Video.
