Sometimes it’s hard to find balance. Faced with the pressure of all the things we have to do – moms are, after all, responsible not only for ourselves but for our families as well, it can feel like too much.

With a little planning, we can enjoy enough leftover time to work out, take a walk on a sunny day, go out for drinks with friends, or read a book.

The older I get, the more important I view the balance in my life. Years ago, stress was an acceptable by-product of success and it felt glamorous to be harried and over-scheduled. I felt accomplished, and very “adult”.

As I grew older (wiser?) I realized it wasn’t about professional success for me at all, but rather overall success, so I stepped off the path I was on, and chose another. One that allowed me more time with my family, and some time for myself. Less money, very little glamor, balance.

I want my girls to gauge their lives’ success not on their title, paycheque, or achievements, but on their level of happiness. So now I try to model that for them.
