When planning a trip, there’s always a ton to remember, whether it’s packing essentials, road maps, or the kids favorite stuffed animals. I know it’s a miracle if my family makes it 10 minutes down the road without somebody screaming that we have to turn back to grab a cherished item.
I’ve recently started adding the newest travel apps to my phone before I begin my packing and my journey. Being the tech wiz, my oldest brother never ceases to amaze my family with the neat apps that he downloads before our annual family beach vacation to insure that we have enough music, don’t get lost, and of course have plenty of options for restaurants to stop at along the way.
This year I decided to do a little bit of research myself and find some new and creative travel apps for my phone. I was pleasantly surprised at the unique apps I found and I cant wait to test them out! Take a look at these fun apps that can help you send a virtual postcard or find a potty on the go.
When I came across this app I knew I had a winner. The Postman App makes virtual postcards to send to your family and friends. You no longer have to sift through stacks of postcards to find the perfect one or search for a post office near your vacation spot. With this app you can create a postcard using any picture you take with your phone. Then the postman app allows you to completely customize your own postcards from the message you would like to write to the theme of the card. No more forgetting to send postcards! ($2.99 at the iTunes store)
The Sit or Squat app is one of my favorites. Simply type in your location or have your GPS turned on and the app will tell you where the closest toilet is to your location. You can even customize your search, for instance if you would rather not use a fast food restaurants toilet you can exclude all fast food restaurants from your search. This app is perfect for the family with small children who seem to need a bathroom every 10 minutes!
Submaps
This summer was my first summer living in a city by myself with no car, so learning to navigate the public transportation was crucial. It was definitely harder than I thought to get the hang of the subway and bus system. I wish I had known about the Submaps app back in May, but I’m happy to have found it for my future travels.
I really enjoy this app because it isn’t just a map of the subway system for one city. It virtually has every city in the world with public transportation! I love how easy it is to use, simply chose the city you are in and up pops a map with full directions on how to use the transportation system in that city. Hopefully this will help me from completely going the wrong way. ($1.99 at the iTunes store.)
No matter where you go these apps can help to make your vacation run just a little bit smoother!
