Finding one multi-media device to hold my 4 year-old’s boundless need for excitement and stimulation can be challenging. Up until recently, I would use my personal laptop to show her family photos and videos and a separate gaming device to play fun video games. Then, add on the extra fun of playing with her grandmother’s iPad during her visits, and we found ourselves constantly having to charge up these various devices. Not anymore!
The new InnoTab from VTech allows children age 4-9 to benefit from the newest touchpad technology by providing a design specifically for kids. This learning tablet comes equipped with interactive reading tools, learning games, and art features that are capable of occupying them for hours.
The painting and drawing applications offer a mess-free alternative for expressing their artistic creativity. The 5-inch color screen LCD also provides a bright display for viewing graphics and reading animated e-books. With a compact and durable design, this tablet may be easily transported so children continue to be entertained in the car or waiting at a restaurant.
The learning tablet also has a headphone jack for independent listening and a tilt-sensor to enhance motion games. The best part is they have educational fun when using the InnoTab.
And parents- don’t feel left out! You have the option to track your child’s learning progress when you connect the tablet to your computer. Accessed through Vtech’s website, the Learning Lodge Navigator, contains a record of the educational programs your child has completed on the InnoTab.
The site also has downloads available for extra games, lessons, and books. Additionally, Vtech game cartridges (purchased separately) allow kids to learn and play with their favorite characters, such as Scooby-Doo, Dora the Explorer, and Toy Story.
Brooke’s Review
I was fortunate to receive a sample of the InnoTab to try with my daughter – and she loves it! She feels incredibly cool to have her own touchpad “tablet” like her grandmother and instantly got the hang of how to switch from application to application all on her own, which means I can rest assured she can use it unsupervised (so I can have a few minutes to myself for my own computer needs!).
The art features excite her the most, as she can paint with beautiful colors and brush strokes, along with applying virtual “stickers”. You can then save these beautiful pieces to the device for future admiration!
She’s also thrilled to have her folder of personal photos and videos (which we downloaded from my computer), so she can have quick glimpses of her favorite pictures whenever she wants, and can giggle and laugh at the goofy videos we take when we’re feeling silly and bored.
The InnoTab retails for $79.99 with separate software cartridges sold for $24.99 and is available at vtechkids.com, Target, Toys ‘R’ Us, Walmart, Kmart or Amazon.com.
