Nut-Free Skeeter Snacks!

Over the past few years, the prevalence of tree-nut and peanut allergies has grown dramatically.  As Moms, we’ve seen first-hand how common and troubling these allergies can be. Even if one of our own children doesn’t have a tree-nut or peanut allergy, a friend, teammate, or classmate may. This fact makes buying snacks for our kids and their friends difficult and nerve-wracking. No one wants to accidently serve nuts to somebody who’s allergic. But even when we’re careful, we find it difficult to find snacks that everyone will enjoy safely.

The easy solution to these challenges? Finding a nut-free snack that everyone will love! Unfortunately, we find that allergy-tolerant snacks are usually expensive and not very tasty. Thankfully, Skeeter Snacks has developed an entire line of delicious, always nut- free snacks that the whole family, class, and team can enjoy without the fear of allergic reactions.

Born out of two Dads’ own frustration with finding good alternatives for their kids, the Skeeter Snacks company decided to create their own nut-free snacks that tastes delicious and that won’t break the bank. The final product is a line of six “Totally Nut-Free. Totally Delicious” cookies: Chocolate Chunk, Skeeterdoodle, Chocolate Chip mini, Chocolate, Golden Oatmeal, and Cinnamon Grahams.

At Mom Central we received the opportunity to sample the Chocolate Chip Mini cookies and the Cinnamon Grahams. The packaging features a cute little squirrel holding a sign of a peanut with an “X” through it. After doing some research online, we found out the little squirrel was Skeeter- the squirrel who’s allergic to nuts! In an amusing story, perfect for our little ones, we read about how Skeeter felt left out that he couldn’t share snacks with his squirrel friends, so he created his own delicious cookies that everyone could enjoy!

Throughout the day we found ourselves impulsively reaching for the box over and over again. The little cookies were packed with chocolate flavor that kept us coming back for more. Each all-natural, whole grain cookie is completely high fructose corn syrup free with no trans fat and always tree-nut and peanut allergy safe.
