Until I had my two children, I never had much trouble in the sleep department and on most nights slept very soundly with minimal tossing and turning. But ever since going through pregnancy, childbirth and nursing, my body temperate has never quite been the same. Now I find myself easily overheating while sleeping. Despite keeping the temps low in our house and using lightweight blankets, I still find myself having trouble sleeping because I’m so warm. Not an ideal situation when other “distractions” happen overnight as well, like my daughter’s frequent middle-of-the-night monster scares or my son’s incessant coughing. All these things add up to a very restless night’s sleep, leaving me tired and exhausted before even getting out of bed and tackling the day ahead!
As hard as I try, I can’t change my kid’s overnight disruptions, but I can try to alleviate my own nighttime discomfort, starting with my bedding. Until now, I never thought that it could be my sheets making me hot, as I just assumed it was the comforter or blanket that dictated my temperature. But, when approached by a company called bedgear to review their line of performance bedding, I eagerly raised my hand to be a tester! bedgear features a full line of pillows, pillow protectors, sheets, and mattress protectors made from similar performance materials found in athletic wear, focused on keeping you cool and dry when your body temperature rises.
Although my husband appreciated not having me toss and turn all night, he personally prefers a more warm and cozy feeling sheet. I think he’ll appreciate these sheets more in the summer. However, I’m keeping them part of our bedding rotation all year-round!
