BJ’s Wholesale Club – It’s a Supermarket and a Whole Lot More

If you were given $100 gift card to spend at BJ’s Wholesale Club what would be the first items on your list to buy?

Usually when I think of BJ’s Wholesale Club, I immediately think of large, oversized packages of food, samples of yummy foods to taste, cases of bottled water, large televisions, double packs of oversized shampoo and vitamins, cheap soft drinks with longer than the bun hot dogs and broken empty cartons to use instead of plastic shopping bags. When I was given a $100 gift card for the club I challenged myself to see what I could buy there, other than food and toiletries.

I entered the club without a list and allowed myself to really walk the aisles. And not just the aisles on the perimeter but the aisles in the middle. I was amazed by all the great gifts you can buy – ones I never knew existed! For example, it never occurred to me to purchase my cell phone and phone accessories there. The club has special offers on cell phones and accessories the retail stores just don’t offer. What about beautiful jewelry that would make anyone overjoyed to wear? Did you know you can purchase top selling magazines at a discount? I didn’t!

I have three kids ages 12, 10 and 9 (two boys and one girl) and decided that I wanted to buy an item the three of them could share and enjoy together or with their friends. This is a hard task to do considering their ages. The amount of choices I came across were endless and unique. As I walked the aisles I realized my decision getting harder and harder. Do I get them a shuffleboard game or a ping pong/table tennis game or a 6-in-1 game? I then found myself starting to second guess my original plan and thought to myself that maybe I should buy them something more practical like books. However, my boys really need new socks and my daughter could benefit from a pair of sheepskin shearling boots.

After walking the aisles looking through all the items I ended up with a dart board with cabinet for our game room, a Polo sweater for my dad, and a cozy shearling blanket for my mom, along with a greeting card at a discounted rate. I couldn’t believe that I was walking out of the store with all these items and was able to use only my gift card to purchase them!

Next time I have a gift to buy I’m definitely going to head to BJ’s Wholesale club to purchase it. And maybe I’ll walk out with a few things from my food shopping list and a magazine as well!
