Spring is finally here, and while planning my spring cleaning resolutions for my home, I was inspired to take clean to the next level to find a product that could clean our air!
We spend a lot of time in our homes, so it makes sense that having the confidence that our families are as healthy as possible in our home environments should be a priority.
I considered purchasing an air cleaner to assist with some of the pollutants that I know can be found in the air. I’m always amazed by just how much dust and pet hair from my dog my vacuum picks up, even when I vacuum our floors and carpets twice a week! When our next-door neighbor began smoking in her apartment and we could sometimes smell the fumes coming through our wall (through the electrical outlets!), it was the catalyst I needed to start researching top quality air cleaners for our home.
After reading up on home air cleaners, I was excited to try the Electrolux PureOxygen Allergy 300. Electrolux has an excellent reputation for offering high-quality products for the home, and I was eager to set up this unit in our home.
The installation process was very simple. I unpacked both the HEPA and carbon filters and easily placed them securely in the unit. The cleaner comes with a remote control (batteries included!) so I was able to seamlessly plug it in and turn it on.
One of my favorite features of this machine is that it comes equipped with an air quality detector, which can detect if air quality is Good, Fair or Poor. When on Auto, if the quality needs improvement, the unit switches onto high or turbo speeds. I tested this out when I was using nail polish remover near the unit, and immediately the sensor turned to poor, thus switching over to Turbo mode. The more particles that are sensed in the air, the higher the speed of the cleaner turns on.
It’s impressive that even when running on High or Turbo, the Electrolux PureOxygen Allergy 300 is still relatively quiet. When it’s running on Low or Quiet, I can barely hear it running at all, with the exception of a few occasional “whirrs.” When the unit is in Auto Mode, the on-board light detector senses when lights are low and automatically activates Sleep Mode, which sets the fan speed to Quiet and dims control panel lights.
I’ve been using the Electrolux PureOxygen Allergy 300 for a few weeks now, and have really sensed an improvement in the overall quality of the air in my home. When opening up the unit, it’s amazing to visually see how much pet hair it’s picked up on the carbon filter. (It’s recommended that you wash the filter every three months.) For even more protection, a coating of Cleancel®, a chemical compound that impedes the growth of bacteria and molds, is added to the activated carbon filter.
Obviously an air cleaner is a great investment for you if anyone in your household suffers from allergies, and the Electrolux PureOxygen Allergy 300 is certified by the Swedish Asthma and Allergy Association.
