One topic that particularly intrigues me is personality types. Ever since I did my first Myers Briggs test back in 1990 (whoa! I’m dating myself big time here), when I was classified as an ISTJ, I’ve enjoyed exploring things that proved accurate and inaccurate about me, and what my friends’, family’s, and colleagues’ results were. And yes, I’ve read up on The Barnum Effect and do believe in it to a certain degree.
Interestingly, despite having tested and re-tested using various iterations of the test over the past 25+ years, I’ve always reached the same result: ISTJ… that is, until these past few years. Apparently now, I’m an ISTP, so my judging side has been replaced with a perceiving side. Anyway, I won’t bore you with all that, but to me that it suggests that we are all capable of changing.
I’ve often heard people say that they truly became who they were meant to be in their forties, found their true voice, or their true calling, or whatever the case may be. Maybe I’ve just become who I was meant to me, and it’s taken the time, experience, and wisdom that can only be earned with age, to get here. Or maybe I’ve chosen to become who I am today. In either case, it’s interesting, and I like it.
Deep thoughts.
