Finding the time to blog »

If you asked a room full of bloggers what bloggy challenge they come up against fairly often, I think finding time to write would be somewhere at the top of that list. I know for me, time is my prime challenge. In the beginning, there used to be days when inspiration was an issue for me, but with everything happening both in the world and in my life, all the products that need reviewing and so on, inspiration is abundant.

Taking the (link)bait »

When I was in high school, there was a word I hated: social climber. I abhorred that word because it conjured up creepy crawly images of icky people that were disingenuous by nature and just, well, ick. Now there's a new word I detest for much the same reason: linkbait.

The truth about conference hopping »

But for a minute, it does. Remember that hierarchy I talked about before? It exists in this form. I've had some AWESOME opportunities in the last year or so and the future looks really bright for me in the blogosphere. By my own admission, I hold myself to a higher standard than I did when I started four-ish years ago. But I don't forget how I started and how important it was, and still is, for me to read and meet my fellow bloggers and have actual conversations with others about their blogs and their goals.

Brands working with bloggers: money for nothing or PR for free? »

Look, I'm not trying to beat a very dead horse with a very overused stick. I mean, everyone and their mother writes posts about bad PR pitches and the dichotomy between bloggers and brands. But after spending several months immersed in agency life, I just can't help it. I've seen what the other half “should” do and it's nothing like what I've been seeing for the last few years.

Bloggers Unplugged »

From Twitter to Facebook, Flickr to Wordpress, it seems we’ve put our whole lives online. But as vibrant as the Internet community can feel, spending more time online also makes us pine for “old-fashioned” interaction. I know that I have occasionally felt guilty for spending time updating my blog, or putting out tweets, when I could have been relaxing with my family or friends. But a recent survey of perhaps the most active online community, my fellow women bloggers, showed that I’m not alone in wanting to spend more time offline. Even these online mavens like to unwind and unplug.
