It seems like a dream come true…a new slice of pizza designed for calorie counters with taste in mind. With over 500 locations in the U.S., Sbarro (which began as an Italian Salumeria in Brooklyn) has recently introduced the new Skinny Slice, a delicious new option that packs on flavor, not pounds.
Mom Central had the privilege of attending the launch event of the new Skinny Slice at Sbarro’s flagship store in Times Square. The brand has recently been innovating and revamping its product line to return to its roots of quality, simplified ingredients that create delicious Italian flavor. In celebrating the launch, we learned what it takes to make a Skinny Slice – and that making pizza can actually be a lot of fun!
The new Skinny Slice features all-natural ingredients, including dough made from scratch daily, vine ripened whole peeled tomatoes and freshly shredded whole milk mozzarella. Included in the 270 calorie slice are red and green bell peppers, portobello mushrooms and sweet, caramelized onions topped with a sprinkling of mozzarella and pecorino romano cheeses. By packing the slice with nutrient-rich vegetables, it boasts loads of flavors without the calories.
According to The Nutrition Twins, registered nutritionists who co-hosted the event, the Skinny Slice offers a strong balance of carbs, protein, and nutrients designed to keep you full and energized after a meal.
