golf-1Practice makes perfect. Whether crafting an intricate dessert dish for the family, or playing that difficult John Mayer song on the guitar to impress your friends, we all invest a lot of time and effort into improving our performance to reach, well, close to “perfection.” However, many times we fall into the trap of—let’s call it—blind practice. We can practice all day long, but if unaware of which particular needs improvement, all the practicing in the world will prove ineffective. This applies to all sorts of things, and golf is no exception.

If you’re an avid golfer, I bet you spend lots of time tracking your scores and replaying each hole from your last round in your head. Or, maybe you take notes on your scorecards, hoping to piece it all together afterwards to improve on your next round. What’s the problem with that? It’s 2015. We live in the age of advanced technology and there is a much easier way to analyze our performance. Enter the masterpiece technology for upping anyone’s golf game—Game Golf.

Using motion sense technology and GPS location capability, Game Golf tracks our shots and gives us the data we need in order to improve our game. The box we received to try out included the Game Golf device, 18 smart tags with markings (D for driver, H for hybrid, etc.) that you attach to the end of each club’s grip, a USB cable, and a pouch for easy storage. A few steps are required before putting the device to work. You’ll need to go to www.gamegolf.com/start to set up an account, install the tags onto your clubs, and then match the online clubs to your physical clubs. If you have extra clubs, there are 4 extra tags marked with a circle, star, triangle, and diamond at your service. After your account is set up, download the software where you’ll analyze your data, and then you can charge your device and get to golfing!

One of the best features of Game Golf is its ease of use. When you’re out on the course and ready to start the round, simply tap your club to the device before your shot. You’ll hear a subtle beep, feel a vibration, and see a green light on the device, indicating it is ready to track. Repeat the process at your next hole until you’re done and all the data is then available when you connect the device via the USB cable to your computer.

The online scorecard provided by the software is pretty remarkable. Your entire golf game is recorded and displayed in a map view, from which you can see your shot locations and distances. More specifically, this technology lets you see when you hit a fairway, land in a bunker or on the green. Once your round is online you can edit the round (add penalty strokes, tap-in putts, etc.) and the post the round for post-round analysis. This post-round key feature provides you with fairway accuracy, your longest and shortest drives, identification of where you’re missing fairways or dropping shots, and average score. AS you build up your history of rounds player, these analysis tools enable you to really analyze your game and help you improve on your next one.

Furthermore, you can share your results and invite and challenge friends from all around the world. You won’t just see your own progress but can keep an eye on everyone else’s as well.

The bottom line is, Game Golf digitalizes the tracking and scoring process and gives you a complete picture of your golf game. Whether you’re a beginner wanting to up your game or serious about improving your skills, Game Golf can help you get to the next level. Get yours today for $199 at
