Disclosure: We received a sample of Vega Protein & Greens vanilla powder to facilitate our post. All opinions are our own.

Vega2I love finding delicious, new ways to incorporate more good protein into my diet. As a longtime vegetarian, finding good sources of protein remains top of mind, so I was excited to discover Vega – a clean, plant-based choice to fuel a healthy, active lifestyle —without compromise. All their products are made with whole food ingredients, including shakes, sports drinks, bars, and more.

Compared to the average North American diet, plant-based diets prove rich in so many beneficial ingredients: fiber from fruits, vegetables and whole grains, and healthy fats from nuts and seeds—while also remaining low in saturated fat.

Vega3We sampled a very versatile product – Vega Protein & Greens (vanilla). One serving of Vega Protein & Greens contains 20 grams of complete, plant-based protein and the equivalent to two servings of veggies, with only 110 calories! It’s also low-glycemic, gluten-free, vegan certified, and made without dairy, soy or GMO ingredients. If you want to try a very simple recipe, all you need is to mix one serving with 8 fl. oz. of ice cold water, juice or non-dairy beverage, shake and go! I tried it with unsweetened vanilla almond milk so the beverage was even more creamy, and it was very delicious and satisfying! I decided to blend the Vega Protein & Greens vanilla into a blueberry-blackberry soy yogurt smoothie.

I enjoyed the soft (not at all chalky) taste of the Vega protein powder. It blends so easily in both the shaken beverage and the smoothie. The vanilla flavor even added to the taste of my favorite smoothie, presenting no downside to packing more protein into my favorite meals and snacks!

My friends often mention wanting to add protein shakes to their post-workout routine. Given all its health benefits, we think Vega would complement anyone’s fitness regime!

Vega4The Recipes Resource on the Vega website offers creative ideas for breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks, and beyond. I can’t wait to make the lemon cheesecake smoothie once I get some graham crackers! I love the idea of this mason jar smoothie idea which also uses the Vega Protein & Greens vanilla powder. And, if you’re looking for a way to add protein to your waffles and pancakes, be sure to check out this recipe.

Vega Protein & Greens is also available in chocolate, berry, tropical and natural flavors. I look forwrd to trying them all!
