No matter your philosophies on allowance and treating, there comes a time in every mom’s life when she wants to reward kids for a job well done. Where philosophies on rewarding differ is in HOW we reward, and with WHAT.

Here’s a list of fun, non-monetary rewards you may want to consider, depending on a variety of factors including age of child:

  • Choice of Friday’s takeout menu
  • Movie date
  • Skating
  • Trip to the mall
  • Geocache day with picnic
  • Design and prepare a whole meal
  • Bowling/mini-golf
  • Mani/Pedi
  • Board game night
  • Paint canvas or pottery at an art studio
  • Extra screen time
  • Mom and Dad act as gopher (“go for…”) for a whole day
  • Stay up an extra 30 minutes past bedtime
  • Sleepover night with friends
