My First Movies Debuts in Boston

There are only so many things you can do with an almost three-year-old. My daughter loves to go to dance class, but it’s only once a week. She loves to play on her swing set, but just like many toddlers, it loses it’s appeal after about 30 minutes. One of her favorite past-times (much to my chagrin) is to watch TV. If we let her, she can spend hours in front of the tube. While this often provides me with a much-needed break and a few minutes with my six-month-old, I know it really isn’t a productive use of her time. Frankly, it’s a very bad habit. I’ve toyed with the idea of taking her to the movies, but this also proves tough if I’m on my own with both kids. Plus, I’m not sure how she’ll do.

Well this is where My First Movies steps in. My First Movies makes its debut in Boston this month offering one-of-a-kind entertainment combining an educational storyline on-screen with a live host who engages the youngsters with singing and dancing. The sneak-peak engagement is scheduled to run April 13-14, 16, 20-21, 23 and 27-28 at the Showcase Cinema in Dedham.

Two films from the four feature series, Harry’s Big Birthday Countdown and Tilly’s Big Camping Adventure, have been selected to run alternate weeks of the engagement allowing families to return for a new feature experience over the course of the three weeks. All of the presentations include songs, dancing and audience interaction.

I’m excited to bring Kaia to her very first movie! I’ve convinced my husband to watch the baby while we have a special mother-daughter day this coming Saturday. And because My First Movies has partnered with My Gym for the Dedham viewings, there’ll be an interactive play area where tots can climb, tumble, jump and more pre-show.

Here’s a link to the trailer for Moms interested in taking the little ones to a movie geared especially for the 0-5 age group. My First Movies is a joint venture between the BabyFirst TV network and Mike Medavoy and Arnie Messer of Phoenix Partners, a Hollywood movie studio.
